Description

Butylparaben is an organic compound that has proven to be a very successful antimicrobial preservative in cosmetics, can also be used in active molecule suspensions, and as a food flavoring additive[1].

In Vitro

Butylparaben (0-500 μM, 44 h) inhibits orcine fertilization, cleavage, and blastocyst formation rates[2].
Butylparaben induces DNA Damage, apoptosis, and autophagy in porcine oocytes[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

Butylparaben (0-50 mg/kg/day, s.c., for 13 weeks) has not systemic toxicity in rats[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
