Description

Sunset Yellow FCF (Orange Yellow S) is an orange azo dye with a maximum absorption wavelength of 480 nm. Sunset Yellow FCF can be used in food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals[1][2][3].

In Vitro

Sunset Yellow FCF (250 μg/mL, 72 h) decreases the proliferation of isolated mouse spleen cells induced by LPS (HY-D1056) and inhibits the proliferation of isolated mouse spleen cells in heterogenic mixed lymphocyte response[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Cell Cytotoxicity Assay[2]

Cell Line: Splenocytes
Concentration: 10, 25, 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000 μg/mL
Incubation Time: 72 h
Result: The highest non-cytotoxic dose was 250 μg/mL.
In Vivo

Sunset Yellow FCF (0.325 mg/kg, orally, for 3 consecutive weeks) can induce chromosomal aberrations in somatic and germ cells and morphological abnormalities of sperm in mice[3].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Male white Swiss mice (8-12 weeks, 20-25 g)[1]
Dosage: 0.325 mg/kg
Administration: p.o.
Result: Increased frequency of SCE’s and chromosomal aberrations in both somatic and germ cells.
Increased morphological sperm abnormalities and DNA fragmentation.

In Vivo:

For the following dissolution methods, please prepare the working solution directly. It is recommended to prepare fresh solutions and use them promptly within a short period of time.
The percentages shown for the solvents indicate their volumetric ratio in the final prepared solution. If precipitation or phase separation occurs during preparation, heat and/or sonication can be used to aid dissolution.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
