Definition:

Phosphodiester bond is a chemical group that refers to two ester bonds formed by esterification of one molecule of phosphoric acid with two alcohols (hydroxyl groups). Phosphodiester bond is involved in forming the molecular structure of DNA, and the break of nucleotide phosphodiester bond can lead to DNA degradation.
