FUOM/Fucose Mutarotase Protein, Human (His)

Cat. No.: HY-P76940
COA Handling Instructions

The FUOM/fucose mutarotase protein has a crucial interconversion effect on α- and β-L-fucose, with β-L-fucose being dominant (70.5%). The β-form undergoes metabolic processes via the salvage pathway, producing GDP-L-fucose that is transported to the endoplasmic reticulum. FUOM/Fucose Mutarotase Protein, Human (His) is the recombinant human-derived FUOM/Fucose Mutarotase protein, expressed by E. coli , with N-His labeled tag. The total length of FUOM/Fucose Mutarotase Protein, Human (His) is 154 a.a., with molecular weight of ~19 kDa.

Description

Background

The FUOM/Fucose Mutarotase Protein plays a crucial role in the interconversion between alpha- and beta-L-fucoses, where L-fucose, a 6-deoxy-L-galactose, coexists as alpha-L-fucose (29.5%) and beta-L-fucose (70.5%). Notably, the beta-form undergoes metabolic processes through the salvage pathway. GDP-L-fucose, generated via either the de novo or salvage pathways, is transported to the endoplasmic reticulum. There, it serves as a substrate for N- and O-glycosylations catalyzed by fucosyltransferases. Fucosylated structures expressed on cell surfaces or secreted in biological fluids are thought to play a pivotal role in cell-cell adhesion and recognition processes. The dynamic interconversion facilitated by FUOM highlights its significance in modulating the pool of available L-fucose, influencing essential glycosylation events crucial for various cellular functions.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Dilution Calculator

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
