Definition:

Acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis (AHC) is a highly contagious viral conjunctivitis first observed in 1969 in Ghana. Causative agents thus far identified are enterovirus 70 and coxsackievirus A24 variant in the genus Enterovirus, the family Picornaviridae of +ssRNA viruses.
