Definition:

Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARA) is a ligand-activated transcription factor that is abundantly expressed in liver. PPARA is activated by fatty acids and various other lipid species, as well as by a class of chemicals referred to as peroxisome proliferators.
