Definition:

Programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) is a ligand of Programmed death receptor 1 (PD-1). PD-L1 is expressed in several human tumor tissues, and is able to effectively inhibit the activation, proliferation and secretion of cytokines related to T cells, the immune response and to induce T-cell failure or even apoptosis upon binding to PD-1.
