Description

Insulin-like growth factor II (IGF-2) is the principal somatomedin of human serum. Insulin-like growth factor II exerts permissive and direct effects on neurite outgrowth and enhances survival of sympathetic and sensory neurons[1][2].

In Vitro

Insulin-like growth factor II (IGF-2) (1-100 ng/mL; 24 h) significantly increases the percentage of neurite-bearing cells in a dose-dependent manner in SH-SY5Y cells[2].
Insulin-like growth factor II (IGF-2) (50 ng/mL; 1-24 h) and IGFBP2 co-treatment enhanced early IGF-1R-associated signaling[2].

Western Blot Analysis[2]

Incubation Time: 1, 6, 12, or 24 h
Result: Co-treatment increased IGF-1R phosphorylation within 1 h. Increased phosphorylated Akt (s473) within 12 h. Increased production of NF-L after 24 h.

Negative (<0) 1.  Try to dissolve the peptide in water first.
2.  If water fails, add NH4OH (<50 μL).
3.  If the peptide still does not dissolve, add DMSO (50-100 μL) to solubilize the peptide.
Positive (>0) 1.  Try to dissolve the peptide in water first.
2.  If water fails, try dissolving the peptide in a 10%-30% acetic acid solution.
3.  If the peptide still does not dissolve, try dissolving the peptide in a small amount of DMSO.
Zero (=0) 1.  Try to dissolve the peptide in organic solvent (acetonitrile, methanol, etc.) first.
2.  For very hydrophobic peptides, try dissolving the peptide in a small amount of DMSO, and then dilute the solution with water to the desired concentration.
