Human serum albumin  (Synonyms: HSA)

Cat. No.: HY-P1956 Purity: ≥99.0%
COA Handling Instructions

Human serum albumin (HSA) is the most abundant protein in plasma and is a major determinant of plasma oncotic pressure. Human serum albumin exhibits antioxidant, anticoagulant, anti-inflammatory, anti-platelet aggregation activities as well as colloid osmotic action. Human serum albumin can block the inhibitory effect of GML on human T cells, providing protective function for T cells. Human serum albumin is also associated with cardiovascular diseases and can partially prevent the LPS (HY-D1056) induced oxidative stress, as well as the upregulation of NF-κB, NF-κB, and peroxynitrite (ONOO) in the vascular wall, contributing to the reduction of blood pressure.

iNOS

In Vitro

HAS (5 μM, 0-90 minutes) can bind with Glycerol Monolaurate (GML), with a Kd value of 1.4 μM. HSA can prevent the ability of GML to inhibit human T cells and protect the function of T cells[3].
HSA (0.01, 0.05, 0.1 μM, 0-24 h) alleviates the GML-induced phosphorylation of AKT at threonine 308 and serine 473 residues as well as the formation of LAT, PLC-γ1, and AKT microclusters, and restores the production of IFN-γ, IL-2, IL-10, and TNF-α in GML-treated cells[3].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Western Blot Analysis[3]

Cell Line: Activate peripheral blood T cells
Concentration: 0.05 μM
Incubation Time: 0, 2, 5, 15 min
Result: Affected the ability of GML to inhibit AKT phosphorylation.

RT-PCR[3]

Cell Line: Activate peripheral blood T cells
Concentration: 0.1, 0.05, 0.005 μM
Incubation Time: 24h
Result: Restored the production of IFN-γ, IL-2, IL-10, and TNF-α in GML treated cells.
In Vivo

Human serum albumin (10 ml/kg; Intravenous injection; Once at 1 hour and once at 5 hours; twice) partially prevents the oxidative stress induced by LPS (HY-D1056) (50 mg/kg) in male Swiss mouse models, as well as the decrease in blood pressure due to upregulation of NF-κB, iNOS, and peroxynitrite (ONOO) in the vascular wall[4].
Human serum albumin (10 ml/kg; Intravenous injection; Once at 1 hour and once at 5 hours; twice) in a Male Swiss mouse model completely prevented endotoxin-induced reduced vascular response to phenol catecholamines, electromyotonia, and endothelial dysfunction, and reduced inflammatory processes leading to oxidative and nitrite stress and reduced vascular reactivity[4].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Male Swiss mouse models[4]
Dosage: 10 ml/kg; Once at 1 hour and once at 5 hours; twice
Administration: HSA: Intravenous injection; LPS: Intraperitoneal injection (i.p.), 50 mg/kg
Result: Prevented LPS-induced tissue NO overproduction and increased iNOS expression.
Was effective in reducing LPS-induced oxidative stress.
Alleviated this LPS-induced oxidative stress and inhibited the formation of peroxynitrite (ONOO).
Reduced LPS-induced upregulation of NF-κB.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
