TPM2 Protein, Human (His)

Cat. No.: HY-P72264
COA Handling Instructions

The TPM2 protein binds actin filaments in muscle and nonmuscle cells and centrally regulates calcium-dependent striated muscle contraction in vertebrates, particularly in concert with the troponin complex. In smooth muscle cells, TPM2 helps regulate contraction by interacting with calcium-binding proteins. TPM2 Protein, Human (His) is the recombinant human-derived TPM2 protein, expressed by E. coli , with N-6*His labeled tag. The total length of TPM2 Protein, Human (His) is 271 a.a., with molecular weight of ~38 kDa.

Background

TPM2 protein exhibits specific binding to actin filaments in both muscle and non-muscle cells, playing a central role in the calcium-dependent regulation of vertebrate striated muscle contraction, particularly in association with the troponin complex. In smooth muscle cells, TPM2 contributes to the regulation of contraction through its interaction with caldesmon. Moreover, in non-muscle cells, TPM2 is implicated in the stabilization of actin filaments within the cytoskeleton, indicating its versatile functions across cellular contexts. The non-muscle isoform of TPM2 may additionally participate in agonist-mediated receptor internalization. Structurally, TPM2 forms homodimers and heterodimers, the latter composed of an alpha chain (TPM1, TPM3, or TPM4) and a beta chain (TPM2), highlighting its diverse molecular associations and underscoring its pivotal roles in both muscle contraction and cellular structural dynamics.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
