The β2 adrenergic receptor (ADRB2)

Definition:

The β2 adrenergic receptor (ADRB2) is a G protein-coupled transmembrane receptor located on airway smooth muscle cells. ADRB2 activation causes smooth muscular relaxation in response to endogenous catecholamines. ADRB2 is an important regulator of airway smooth muscle tone.
