Phytochrome

Definition:

Phytochromes are bilin-binding photosensory receptors. Phytochromes are present in bacteria, cyanobacteria, fungi, algae, and land plants. Phytochromes respond to environmental light conditions and control a variety of photomorphogenic responses.
