ALPG - alkaline phosphatase, germ cell Gene

Homo sapiens

Also known as GCAP; ALPPL; ALPPL2

Gene ID: 251 | Gene type: protein coding

About ALPG

Cytogenetic location: 2q37.1 Genomic coordinates (GRCh38): 2:232,406,844-232,410,714 (from NCBI)

This gene has 1 transcript (splice variant), 361 orthologues and 3 paralogues. Biased expression in placenta (RPKM 6.1), lung (RPKM 0.8) and 1 other tissue.

Summary

There are at least four distinct but related alkaline phosphatases: intestinal, placental, placental-like, and liver/bone/kidney (tissue non-specific). The product of this gene is a membrane bound glycosylated Enzyme, localized to testis, thymus and certain germ cell tumors, that is closely related to both the placental and intestinal forms of Alkaline Phosphatase.
