Bacterial conjunctivitis

Definition:

Bacterial conjunctivitis is an infection caused by bacterial pathogens, such as Haemophilus influenza, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Moraxella catarrhalis. Most cases of conjunctivitis in adults are likely to be caused by viral infection, but children are more likely to develop bacterial conjunctivitis than viral infection. The contact lens wearers are associated with an increased risk of conjunctivitis or keratitis.
