Fc Receptors

The receptors of the fragment crystalizable (Fc) portion of immunoglobulin (Fc receptors, FcRs) are membrane molecules expressed on most innate and adaptive immune cells. FcRs belong to the immunoglobulin superfamily. FcRs interact with the Fc portion of the antibody and connect humoral immune responses to cellular effector mechanisms. Receptors for all classes of immunoglobulins include IgG (FcγRI/CD64, FcγRII/CD32, FcγRIII/CD16 and FcRn), IgE (FCεRI), IgA (FcαRI/CD89), IgM (FcμR), IgD (FcδR) and IgA/IgM (Fcα/μR).
