The Reconstitution Calculator Equation
For products in liquid form, the volume can be calculated based on density and mass:
Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
Use Case
10 μg of IL-6 Protein, Mouse - How to dissolve it to make a 100 μg/mL solution?
Enter 10 in the Mass field and select the unit (µg).
Enter 100 (µg/mL) in the Desired Reconstitution Concentration field.
Click Calculate.
The result is Volume = 100 µL.
To reconstitute, the protein is first wetted with a small portion of the provided reconstitution solution so it can dissolve. The remaining volume is then adjusted with a buffer or medium containing a carrier protein, such as 0.1% BSA, 5% HSA, 10% FBS, or 5% trehalose. After mixing, the solution may be divided into small aliquots (not less than about 20 µL each) and stored at –20 °C to –80 °C for several months.”
