Description & Advantages
Kanamycin sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic purified from Streptomyces kanamyceticus. It acts by binding to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome and inhibiting protein synthesis in susceptible bacteria. Kanamycin is effective against a wide variety of gram-negative and some gram-positive bacteria, and is used for the prevention of bacterial contamination of cell cultures.
This product is formulated with 0.85% NaCl. The recommended working concentration is 100 μg/mL.
Protocol
The Kanamycin sulfate solution can be used according to the following methods:
1. Add Kanamycin sulfate solution in proportion to the sterile cell culture solution, mix well before use.
2. Add Kanamycin sulfate solution in proportion to the cell culture solution, filter and sterilize.
