Description & Advantages
Antibiotic-antimycotic is used to prevent bacterial and fungal contamination. The antibiotics penicillin and streptomycin prevent bacterial contamination of cell cultures due to their effective combined action against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Amphotericin B prevents fungal contamination of cell cultures due to its inhibition of multi-cellular fungus and yeast.
Antibiotic-antimycotic (100×) contains 10 KU/mL of penicillin, 10 mg/mL of streptomycin, and 25 μg/mL of Amphotericin B. This product is formulated with 0.85% NaCl. The recommended working concentration in the cell culture medium is 100 U/mL of penicillin, 0.1 mg/mL of streptomycin, and 0.25 μg/mL of Amphotericin B.
Protocol
The Antibiotic-Antifungal solution can be used according to the following methods:
1. Add Antibiotic-Antifungal solution in proportion to the sterile cell culture solution, mix well before use.
2. Add Antibiotic-Antifungal solution in proportion to the cell culture solution, filter and sterilize.
