B7-H6

B7-H6, also known as NCR3LG1 or DKFZp686O24166, a member of the B7 family of immunoreceptors, is a type I transmembrane protein that shows considerable homology with the B7-H1 and B7-H3 proteins. B7-H6 is a co-stimulatory ligand for the natural cytotoxicity triggering receptor 3 (NKp30)-activating receptor expressed on natural killer cells. B7-H6 binds to NKp30, which initiates innate immune responses for cellular transformation. B7-H6 is not expressed in normal human tissues; however, its expression can be detected in various human malignancies including lymphoma, leukemia, melanoma, and carcinoma as well as on primary tumor blood cells. Therefore, B7-H6 could be considered as an excellent biomarker for several cancer types.
