Caspase 14
Caspase-14 departs from the rest of the family in both expression and function: it is activated almost exclusively during terminal differentiation of epidermal keratinocytes rather than in classical apoptosis. The protease is processed within differentiating skin cells and contributes to cornification by cleaving profilaggrin into filaggrin, a key component of the skin barrier responsible for moisture retention and epidermal integrity. Disruption of Caspase-14 expression or activity has been associated with impaired barrier function, altered desquamation, and heightened sensitivity to UVB-induced damage. Because the enzyme shows minimal involvement in inflammatory or apoptotic signaling, it is regarded as a specialized differentiation caspase and a niche target for dermatology research.

The EpCAM/TROP1 protein serves as an important homogeneous interacting molecule that promotes direct contact between intestinal epithelial cells (IEC) and intraepithelial lymphocytes (IEL) in the mucosal epithelium. This feature helps establish an immune barrier against mucosal infections. EpCAM/TROP1 Protein, Human (His-SUMO) is the recombinant human-derived EpCAM/TROP1 protein, expressed by E. coli , with N-6*His, N-SUMO labeled tag.
