Cat. No.: HY-K1050
Manual COA SDS Technical Support

MCE Gentamicin, Sterile (10 mg/mL) is a filtered and sterilized antibiotic solution that can be used directly in cell culture. Gentamicin acts by binding to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome leading to inhibition of protein synthesis and death in susceptible bacteria, mainly for gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria.

The cell culture was exposed to S. aureus at a 100:1 multiplicity of infection (MOI), with no antibiotics present. After 24 h, the co-cultured cells were washed three times using PBS. Gentamicin (HY-K1050) at a final concentration of 160 µg/mL was then added to eliminate the remaining S. aureus. Western blot analysis of NPCs with or without S. aureus infection or clearance, confirming a decrease in the expression of aggrecan and collagen II.

    Description
    & Advantages

Gentamicin solution has been used as an antibiotic component in eukaryotic cell culture and bacterial culture. Gentamicin acts by binding to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome leading to inhibition of protein synthesis and death in susceptible bacteria, mainly for gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. This antibiotic is stable at room temperature.

The recommended working concentration of Gentamicin ranges from 0.5 to 50 μg/mL.

    Storage

Store at 4°C for 2 years.

    Protocol

The Gentamicin solution can be used according to the following methods:

    1. Add Gentamicin solution in proportion to the sterile cell culture solution, mix well before use.

    2. Add Gentamicin solution in proportion to the cell culture solution, filter and sterilize.

    Help & FAQs
    • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
