Definition:

Immunoglobulin superfamily is a group of proteins, including the immunoglobulins themselves, Major histocompatibility complex (MHC)/HLA proteins class I and class II and T-cell receptor (TCR) molecules. The immunoglobulin superfamily takes part in cell-cell recognition.
