Ionic gradient liposomes (IGL)

Definition:

Ionic gradient liposomes (IGL) is a pharmaceutical carrier. IGL utilizes ion gradient for drug encapsulation, necessitates active loading of the drug in preformed vesicles exhibiting a transmembrane pH or ion gradient, with a low intra liposome pH, and a high outside pH. IGL allows high drug encapsulation and prolonged release.
