Low density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR)

Definition:

Low density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) is responsible for uptake of cholesterol-carrying lipoprotein particles into cells. The receptor binds lipoprotein particles at the cell surface and releases them in the low-pH environment of the endosome.
