Definition:

Macrophage stimulating protein (MSP), also known as macrophage stimulating 1 (MST1) and hepatocyte growth factor (HGF)-like protein, is an 80-kDa serum protein synthesized and secreted as a biologically inactive pro-MSP in the liver, and cleaved by serum protease to form active protein.
