Nephrotic syndrome

Definition:

Nephrotic syndrome (NS) consists of peripheral edema, heavy proteinuria, and hypoalbuminemia, often with hyperlipidemia. Most cases of NS are idiopathic or primary. The most common histologic subtypes of primary NS in adults are membranous nephropathy and focal segmental glomerulosclerosi.
