Vibrio vulnificus infection

Definition:

Vibrio vulnificus is a gram-negative bacillus found in warm coastal waters. It causes two distinct syndromes: a primary septicemia related to seafood consumption and a necrotizing wound infection acquired by exposing open wounds to contaminated seawater.
