Sourthern Blot

Southern Blot is a molecular biology technique used to detect DNA sequences. The method includes DNA electrophoresis, transfer to membrane, DNA fixation, DNA probe hybridization and detection. Southern Blot is often used to determine the presence, size, quantity, and structure of target genes. The application fields of this technology include genomics research, detection of gene rearrangements, DNA methylation analysis, etc. Although widely used in the field of DNA detection, the operation of Southern Blot is relatively cumbersome and has been gradually replaced by higher-throughput technologies such as PCR and sequencing in recent years.
