Coagulation Factor XII, also known as F12, is a serum glycoprotein with multifaceted roles in the initiation of blood coagulation, fibrinolysis, and the generation of bradykinin and angiotensin. Factor XII participates in the intricate cascade of events by cleaving prekallikrein to form kallikrein. Subsequently, factor XII undergoes cleavage itself, initially to alpha-factor XIIa and then to beta-factor XIIa through trypsin activity.
