Description
Lipocalin-2/NGAL Protein, Mouse (HEK293, His) is an 20-28 kDa NGAL protein with a His-flag, which is expressed in HEK293 cells. NGAL is an antibacterial factor of natural immunity, and an acute-phase protein[1].
Background
NGAL is a 25 kDa protein belonging to the lipocalin superfamily, which is first known as an antibacterial factor of natural immunity, and an acute-phase protein.NGAL is initially found in activated neutrophils, and other cells, like kidney tubular cells, may produce NGAL in response to various insults.ipocalin-2 (LCN2/NGAL) has been implicated in a variety of processes including cell differentiation, proliferation, survival, and morphogenesis.NGAL has anti-tumoral and anti-metastatic effects in neoplasias, for example, the colon, ovary and pancreas[1].
Verified Bioactivity
1.Measured by its ability to bind Iron(III) dihydroxybenzoic acid [Fe(DHBA)3] that Incubate at room temperature for 10 minutes. The binding of Fe(DHBA)3 results in the quenching of Trp fluorescence in NGAL. >1.0 µM of Fe(DHBA)3 can be bound.
2.Measured by its ability to bind Iron(III) dihydroxybenzoic acid [Fe(DHBA)3] in 30 min at 25°C. The binding of Fe(DHBA)3 results in the quenching of Trp fluorescence in 2 μM NGAL. >1.5 µM of Fe(DHBA)3 can be bound.

Lipocalin-2/NGAL Protein, Mouse (HEK293, C-His) (50 μg/kg) bilaterally injected with Eight-week-old male C57 mice. In the control group, 10 mice were injected intraperitoneally with PBS. Open-field test data indicated no significant difference in the total distance covered (Fig. 2B). NOR results revealed a reduced preference in exploring new objects in the LCN2 group compared to the control group (Fig. 2C). Y-maze test showed that LCN2 mice exhibit a significantly decreased duration (Fig. 2D) and crossing times (Fig. 2E) in the novel arm compared to the control group.
