Lipocalin-2/NGAL Protein, Mouse (HEK293, C-His) (50 μg/kg) bilaterally injected with Eight-week-old male C57 mice. In the control group, 10 mice were injected intraperitoneally with PBS. Open-field test data indicated no significant difference in the total distance covered (Fig. 2B). NOR results revealed a reduced preference in exploring new objects in the LCN2 group compared to the control group (Fig. 2C). Y-maze test showed that LCN2 mice exhibit a significantly decreased duration (Fig. 2D) and crossing times (Fig. 2E) in the novel arm compared to the control group.

    Description

Lipocalin-2/NGAL Protein, Mouse (HEK293, His) is an 20-28 kDa NGAL protein with a His-flag, which is expressed in HEK293 cells. NGAL is an antibacterial factor of natural immunity, and an acute-phase protein[1].

    Background

NGAL is a 25 kDa protein belonging to the lipocalin superfamily, which is first known as an antibacterial factor of natural immunity, and an acute-phase protein.
NGAL is initially found in activated neutrophils, and other cells, like kidney tubular cells, may produce NGAL in response to various insults.ipocalin-2 (LCN2/NGAL) has been implicated in a variety of processes including cell differentiation, proliferation, survival, and morphogenesis.NGAL has anti-tumoral and anti-metastatic effects in neoplasias, for example, the colon, ovary and pancreas[1].

    Biological Activity

1.Measured by its ability to bind Iron(III) dihydroxybenzoic acid [Fe(DHBA)3] that Incubate at room temperature for 10 minutes. The binding of Fe(DHBA)3 results in the quenching of Trp fluorescence in NGAL. ≤1.852 μM of Fe(DHBA)3 can be bound.
2.Measured by its ability to bind Iron(III) dihydroxybenzoic acid [Fe(DHBA)3] in 30 min at 25℃. The binding of Fe(DHBA)3 results in the quenching of Trp fluorescence in 2μM NGAL. 2.308 μM of Fe(DHBA)3 can be bound.

    Help & FAQs
    • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

    • Dilution Calculator

    • Specific Activity Calculator

    The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
    = ÷

    The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
    × = ×
    C1   V1   C2   V2

    The specific activity calculator equation

    Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

    Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
    Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
