EGFR vIII Protein, Human (HEK293, Fc)

The EGFR vIII protein is a transmembrane glycoprotein in the protein kinase superfamily that acts as a receptor for epidermal growth factor. It acts on the cell surface, binds to epidermal growth factor, triggers receptor dimerization and tyrosine autophosphorylation, and promotes cell proliferation. EGFR vIII Protein, Human (HEK293, Fc) is the recombinant human-derived EGFR vIII protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-hFc labeled tag.

The EGFRvIII protein is a transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the protein kinase superfamily and serves as a receptor for members of the epidermal growth factor family. Operating as a cell surface protein, EGFRvIII binds to epidermal growth factor, initiating receptor dimerization and tyrosine autophosphorylation, thereby promoting cell proliferation. Mutations in this gene are associated with lung cancer. Furthermore, EGFRvIII is implicated as a component of the cytokine storm, contributing to the severity of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2).
