Poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide) is a biodegradable polymer copolymer. Poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide) undergoes degradation through ester bond hydrolysis into lactic acid and glycolic acid. These two products can be naturally eliminated through metabolism in the body (such as the tricarboxylic acid cycle), without the risk of long-term accumulation. Poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide) can be used in medical sutures, implants, and drug delivery systems[1][2][3].

In Vitro

Poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide) forms PLGA-PEO nanoparticles, which do not exhibit significant oxidative stress induction activity and cytotoxicity towards primary rat liver cells[1].
Poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide) can be used to construct drug delivery systems, which can specifically deliver drugs to tumor sites through passive targeting. By surface modification (such as PEGylation) and connection with targeting ligands (such as folic acid, transferrin, RGD peptide, antibodies, etc.), its targeting ability and therapeutic effect on other types of tumors can be significantly improved[2].
Poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide) can be used to construct nanoparticles loaded with PLP (139-151) (HY-P0129) peptide, and integrate them into soluble polymer microneedle patches, thereby studying antigen-specific immunity in multiple sclerosis[3].
