Angiopoietin-like 5 (ANGPTL5), a member of angiopoietin-like proteins (ANGPTLs) family, is mainly expressed in adult human heart. ANGPTL5 also has an Nterminal cleavable signal peptide, a predicted coiled-coil domain, and a fibrinogen-like domain. It plays a functional role in the expansion of human cord blood hematopoietic stem cells. In addition, ANGPTL5 is an adipocytokine and has an important role in metabolic processes including lipid metabolism, obesity, and type 2 diabetes mellitus[1][2].
