Arginase-2/ARG2 Protein, Human (His)

Customer Review

Based on 1 Customer Validation

Arginase-2/ARG2 Protein, Human (His) expresses in E. coli with a His tag at the N-terminus. Arginase-2 (Arg2) acts as a fasting-induced hepatocyte factor that protects against hepatic and peripheral fat accumulation, hepatic inflammatory responses, and insulin and glucose intolerance in obese murine models.

Biological Activity

Description

Arginase-2/ARG2 Protein, Human (His) expresses in E. coli with a His tag at the N-terminus. Arginase-2 (Arg2) acts as a fasting-induced hepatocyte factor that protects against hepatic and peripheral fat accumulation, hepatic inflammatory responses, and insulin and glucose intolerance in obese murine models[1].

Background

Arginase catalyzes the hydrolysis of arginine to ornithine and urea. At least two isoforms of mammalian arginase exists (Arginase-1, Arginase-2) which differ in their tissue distribution, subcellular localization, immunologic crossreactivity and physiologic function. Arginase-2 is located in the mitochondria and expressed in extra-hepatic tissues, especially kidney[1].

Verified Bioactivity

Measured by the production of urea during the hydrolysis of arginine. The specific activity is 538330.64 pmol/min/µg, as measured under the described conditions.
