HA/Hemagglutinin Protein, H14N5 (P26136, sf9, His)

Art. -Nr.: HY-P77020
Handling Instructions Technical Support

The HA1/Hemagglutinin protein binds cell surface receptors, facilitating virus attachment. It determines host range and virulence, mediating fusion of viral and endosomal membranes. Acidic endosomes trigger HA2 conformational change, releasing fusion peptide. Multiple HA1 trimers form fusion pore. Hemagglutinin/HA Protein, H14N5 (P26136, sf9, His) is the recombinant Virus-derived Hemagglutinin/HA protein, expressed by Sf9 insect cells , with C-His labeled tag.

Hemagglutinin/HA Protein, H14N5 (P26136, sf9, His) is the recombinant Virus-derived Hemagglutinin/HA protein, expressed by Sf9 insect cells , with C-His labeled tag.

Background

The HA1/Hemagglutinin protein binds to receptors on the cell surface that contain sialic acid, facilitating the attachment of the virus particle to the cell. This attachment leads to internalization of approximately two thirds of the virus particles through a process called clathrin-dependent endocytosis, while about one third enters through a clathrin- and caveolin-independent pathway. The HA1 protein plays a crucial role in determining host range restriction and virulence of the virus. As a class I viral fusion protein, it enables the virus to penetrate the cell cytoplasm by mediating the fusion of the viral membrane with the endosomal membrane. The acidic environment in endosomes triggers a irreversible conformational change in the HA2 subunit, causing the release of a hydrophobic peptide required for fusion. The formation of a competent fusion pore necessitates the presence of multiple trimers of the HA1/Hemagglutinin protein.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
