HA/Hemagglutinin Protein, H5N1 (Q9Q0U6, sf9, His)

Cat. No.: HY-P75030
Handling Instructions

HA/Hemagglutinin Protein binds to cell surface receptors, enabling virus particle attachment. This initiates virion internalization through diverse pathways. HA is vital for determining virus host range and virulence. As a Class I viral fusion protein, it mediates fusion between the endocytosed virus particle's membrane and the endosomal membrane, facilitating virus entry into the cell cytoplasm. In endosomes' low pH, HA2 undergoes a conformational change, releasing the fusion hydrophobic peptide. Multiple HA trimers form a competent fusion pore. HA is a homotrimer with disulfide-linked HA1-HA2 subunits. HA/Hemagglutinin Protein, H5N1 (Q9Q0U6, sf9, His) is the recombinant Virus-derived HA/Hemagglutinin protein, expressed by Sf9 insect cells, with C-His labeled tag. The total length of HA/Hemagglutinin Protein, H5N1 (Q9Q0U6, sf9, His) is 531 a.a., with molecular weight of ~60.1 kDa.

Background

The Hemagglutinin Protein (HA) binds to receptors on the cell surface, facilitating the attachment of the virus particle to the cell. This attachment leads to internalization of the virion through different pathways. HA also plays a crucial role in determining the host range restriction and virulence of the virus. As a class I viral fusion protein, HA is responsible for mediating the fusion of the membrane of the endocytosed virus particle with the endosomal membrane, allowing the virus to enter the cell cytoplasm. In the low pH environment of endosomes, HA2 undergoes a conformational change, releasing the fusion hydrophobic peptide. Multiple HA trimers are needed to form a competent fusion pore. HA is a homotrimer consisting of disulfide-linked HA1-HA2 subunits.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
