HA/Hemagglutinin Protein, H9N2 (AAO46082, 523a.a, HEK293, His) is the recombinant virus-derived HA/Hemagglutinin, expressed by HEK293 , with C-His labeled tag.

The HA/Hemagglutinin protein functions as a key player in viral entry by binding to sialic acid-containing receptors on the cell surface, initiating the attachment of the virus particle to the host cell. This attachment leads to virion internalization, with approximately two-thirds of virus particles undergoing clathrin-dependent endocytosis and about one-third utilizing a clathrin- and caveolin-independent pathway. Beyond its role in viral entry, HA plays a crucial role in determining host range restriction and virulence, serving as a Class I viral fusion protein. Its responsibility extends to mediating the fusion of the endocytosed virus particle's membrane with the endosomal membrane, allowing penetration into the cell cytoplasm. The HA2 subunit undergoes an irreversible conformational change in response to low pH in endosomes, facilitating the release of the fusion hydrophobic peptide. Notably, the formation of a competent fusion pore requires the collaboration of several trimers.
