Hemagglutinin-neuraminidase Protein, HPIV-4b (sf9, His)

Cat. No.: HY-P77389
Handling Instructions

Hemagglutinin-neuraminidase is a single viral protein that has both hemagglutinin and neuraminidase activities. Hemagglutinin neuraminidase protein plays a key role in viral infection. It attaches the virus to a cell receptor containing sialic acid, initiating the infection process. Hemagglutinin-neuraminidase Protein, HPIV-4b (sf9, His) is the recombinant Virus-derived Hemagglutinin-neuraminidase protein, expressed by Sf9 insect cells , with N-His labeled tag. The total length of Hemagglutinin-neuraminidase Protein, HPIV-4b (sf9, His) is 532 a.a., with molecular weight of ~57.12 KDa.

Background

Hemagglutinin-neuraminidase is a single viral protein that has both hemagglutinin and neuraminidase activities. Hemagglutinin neuraminidase protein plays a key role in viral infection. It attaches the virus to a cell receptor containing sialic acid, initiating the infection process. When the hemagglutinin-neuraminidase protein binds to the receptor, it causes conformational changes that allow the F protein to trigger fusion between the virion and the cell membrane. This fusion event facilitates the entry of the virus into the host cell. In addition, the hemagglutinin-neuraminidase protein exhibits neuraminidase activity, which contributes to the effective transmission of the virus. By separating mature virions from glycoproteins containing neuraminidase, the hemagglutinin-neuraminidase protein enables the virus to reproduce efficiently[1][2][3].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
