Playing a pivotal role in transcription regulation, DNA repair, DNA replication, and the maintenance of chromosomal stability, histones contribute significantly to cellular processes. The regulation of DNA accessibility involves a sophisticated system of post-translational modifications, collectively known as the histone code, and dynamic nucleosome remodeling.
