IL-33 Protein is a cytokine belonging to the IL-1 superfamily. IL-33 induces helper T cells, mast cells, eosinophils and basophils to produce type 2 cytokines. IL-33 acts intracellularly as a nuclear factor and extracellularly as a cytokine. IL-33 mediates its biological effects via IL-1 receptor ST 2, activates NF-kappaB and MAP kinases, and drives production of T(H)2-associated cytokines from in vitro polarized T(H)2 cells. Interleukin-33 (IL-33) is a cytokine belonging to the IL-1 superfamily and it main sources include human endothelial cells and mouse adventitial stromal cells of the vascular tree; epithelial cells in barrier tissues; fibroblast reticular cells (FRCs) in the lymphoid organs; and glial cells, neurons, and astrocytes in the nervous system. IL-33 induces helper T cells, mast cells, eosinophils and basophils to produce type 2 cytokines. IL-33 acts intracellularly as a nuclear factor and extracellularly as a cytokine. As a cytokine, IL-33 mediates its biological effects via IL-1 receptor ST 2, activates NF-kappaB and MAP kinases, and drives production of T(H)2-associated cytokines from in vitro polarized T(H)2 cells. In vivo, IL-33 induces the expression of IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13 and leads to severe pathological changes in mucosal organs. Cellular stress or exposure to inflammation can augment or induce cellular expression of IL-33. IL-33 exhibits pleiotropic functions supporting IFN-γ-, IL-9-, and IL-17-dominated immune responses as part of the host response to pathogens or immune-mediated inflammatory diseases^[1][2].

Measured by its binding ability in a functional ELISA. When Recombinant Cynomolgus IL-33 Protein is immobilized at 5 µg/mL (100 µL/well) can bind Recombinant Human IL1RL1 Protein. The ED₅₀ for this effect is 55.8 ng/mL.
