N-Cadherin Protein, Human (565a.a, HEK293, hFc)

N-Cadherin Protein, Human (565a.a, HEK293, hFc) is the recombinant human-derived N-Cadherin protein, expressed by HEK293, with C-hFc tag.

N Cadherin Protein is a calcium-dependent cell adhesion protein that preferentially mediates homotypic cell-cell adhesion by dimerizing with a CDH2 chain from another cell, thereby contributing to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types. It acts as a regulator of neural stem cell quiescence by mediating the anchorage of neural stem cells to ependymocytes in the adult subependymal zone: cleavage by MMP24 affects CDH2-mediated anchorage, modulating neural stem cell quiescence. This protein plays a role in forming cell-to-cell junctions between pancreatic beta cells and neural crest stem (NCS) cells, promoting process formation by NCS cells (By similarity). It is essential for proper neurite branching and is involved in pre- and postsynaptic organization (By similarity), potentially participating in neuronal recognition mechanisms. In hippocampal neurons, it may also regulate dendritic spine density.
