Description

Protein G is a cell wall protein isolated from Gram-negative streptococci, which mainly binds to mammalian IgGs via its Fc fragment. Protein G, Staphylococcus aureus (His) is a recombinant Protein G expressed by E. coli and tagged with C-6*His[1][2][3][4][5].

Background

Protein G, Staphylococcus aureus, is a repetitive surface receptor derived from group G streptococci and can bind broadly to mammalian IgG, including human IgG3. Protein G, Staphylococcus aureus has no sequence homology with protein A, and its IgG-binding domain is predominantly β-sheet, with a secondary structure significantly different from the α-helical protein A. Protein G, Staphylococcus aureus is a classic antibody affinity purification ligand. Protein G, Staphylococcus aureus can be recombined with proteins A and L to construct chimeric proteins, resulting in richer antibody-binding properties. Protein G, Staphylococcus aureus is frequently engineered as a fusion tag for various immunological and biotechnological research[1][2][3][4][5].

Biological Activity

Measured by its binding ability in a functional ELISA. Immobilized Protein G at 2μg/mL (100μL/well) can bind Biotinylated Human IgG1. The ED50 for this effect is 0.1099 μg/mL.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Dilution Calculator

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
