5-TAMRA can produce bright, pH-insensitive orange-red fluorescence (excitation and emission extremes of 546/579) and has good photostability. 5-TAMRA is mainly used as a fluorescent marker for the synthesis and study of specific oligonucleotide probes[1].

体外実験

5-TAMRA is converted to hydroxyproline alcohol phosphoramidite reagents, that are suitable for oligonucleotide synthesis. These reagents can be used for automatical synthesis of oligonucleotide probes for DNA analysis. The fluorescence quantum yield of 5-TAMRA is related to the presence of adjacent guanine nucleotides in the oligonucleotide sequence[1].
