Background
Function:Lipoyl amidotransferase that catalyzes the transfer of lipoyl moieties from lipoyl-protein H of the glycine cleavage system (lipoyl-GCSH) to E2 subunits of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDCE2) (PubMed:29987032). Unable to catalyze the transfer of octanoyl from octanoyl-GCSH to PDCE2 (PubMed:29987032). In vitro, it is also able to catalyze the transfer of the lipoyl group from lipoyl-AMP to the specific lysine residue of lipoyl domains of lipoate-dependent enzymes but this reaction may not be physiologically relevant (Probable)
Subcellular Localization:Mitochondrion
Expression:
Tissue_Specificity: Highly expressed in skeletal muscle and heart, moderately in kidney and pancreas, and detected at lower levels in liver, brain, placenta and lung
Isoforms & Post-Translational Modification:Q9Y234: 373 amino acids, molecular weight 42479 Da.
ADP-ribosylated
RRID
Synonyms

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
