It binds to chitin and heparin, displaying weak hexosaminidase activity without chitinase activity. Chitinase-like protein 3/YM1 Protein, Mouse (HEK293, His) is the recombinant mouse-derived Chitinase-like protein 3/YM1 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-6*His labeled tag.

The Chitinase-like protein 3/YM1 protein functions as a lectin with a notable affinity for saccharides containing a free amino group, including glucosamine or galactosamine. Its binding affinity is considerably stronger for oligomeric saccharides compared to mono- or disaccharides. Additionally, Chitinase-like protein 3/YM1 binds to chitin and heparin. While it exhibits weak hexosaminidase activity, it does not possess chitinase activity. Beyond its enzymatic functions, the protein displays chemotactic activity for T-lymphocytes, bone marrow cells, and eosinophils, suggesting potential involvement in inflammation and allergy processes.
