Background

The HK3 protein, also known as Hexokinase-3, plays a crucial role in glycolysis by catalyzing the phosphorylation of hexoses, including D-glucose and D-fructose, to form hexose 6-phosphates such as D-glucose 6-phosphate and D-fructose 6-phosphate, respectively.
