Osteopontin/OPN Protein, Mouse (P.pastoris, His)

Cat. No.: HY-P71786
COA Handling Instructions

Osteopontin/OPN Protein, a crucial non-collagenous bone protein, binds strongly to hydroxyapatite, integral to the mineralized matrix. It likely plays a vital role in mediating cell-extracellular matrix interactions. Moreover, as a cytokine, OPN efficiently induces interferon-gamma and interleukin-12 production while inhibiting interleukin-10, pivotal in promoting type I immunity. Osteopontin/OPN Protein, Mouse (P.pastoris, His) is the recombinant mouse-derived Osteopontin/OPN protein, expressed by P. pastoris , with N-6*His labeled tag. The total length of Osteopontin/OPN Protein, Mouse (P.pastoris, His) is 274 a.a., with molecular weight (glycosylation form) of ~60 kDa.

Background

Osteopontin (OPN) protein, a vital non-collagenous bone protein, demonstrates a strong affinity for hydroxyapatite and serves as an integral component of the mineralized matrix. It likely plays a crucial role in facilitating interactions between cells and the extracellular matrix. Additionally, OPN acts as a cytokine, effectively stimulating the production of interferon-gamma and interleukin-12, while simultaneously suppressing the production of interleukin-10. These functions are essential in the pathway that promotes type I immunity.

Biological Activity

Measured by the ability of the immobilized protein to support the adhesion of HEK293 human embryonic kidney cells. When 1 x 105 cells/well are added to Recombinant Rat Osteopontin/OPN coated plates, cell adhesion is enhanced in a dose dependent manner after 1 hour incubation at 37 ℃. The ED50 for this effect is 0.5101 μg/mL, corresponding to a specific activity is 1.960×104 units/mg.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Dilution Calculator

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
