Description

SARS-CoV-2 S glycoprotein (V483A, HEK 293, His) is a recombinant protein expressed in HEK 293 cells with a His tag. S glycoprotein plays an important role in the evolution and transmission of SARS-CoV-2.

Background

The spike (S) glycoprotein of coronaviruses is known to be essential in the binding of the virus to the host cell at the advent of the infection process. The viral pathogen responsible, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), binds to the host receptor through its spike (S) glycoprotein, which mediates membrane fusion and viral entry[1][2].
