Icafolin-methyl is a herbicide and plant β-tubulin (Microtubule/Tubulin) inhibitor. Icafolin-methyl binds to the β-tubulin region of the Colchicine (HY-16569) binding site, thereby blocking the polymerization of plant tubulin. As a non-selective herbicide, Icafolin-methyl exhibits post-emergence activity against weeds in both cool-season and warm-season cropping systems, including resistant ryegrass and darnel biotypes. Description

Icafolin-methyl is a herbicide and plant β-tubulin (Microtubule/Tubulin) inhibitor. Icafolin-methyl binds to the β-tubulin region of the Colchicine (HY-16569) binding site, thereby blocking the polymerization of plant tubulin. In Vitro

Icafolin-methyl (10 nM; 2 weeks) strongly inhibits Arabidopsis thaliana Col-0 seedling growth, inducing morphological abnormalities consistent with mitotic disruption[1].
Icafolin-methyl (100 nM; 3 days) inhibits tobacco BY-2 cell replication, induces isodiametric cell swelling, and disrupts chromatin structure, indicating mitotic disruption via tubulin polymerization inhibition[1].
Icafolin-methyl (1.6 μM; 3 days) inhibits Chlamydomonas reinhardtii CC1690 mt+ cell growth with an EC50 of 1.3 ± 0.1 μM, preventing cell division and inducing massive cell swelling consistent with tubulin polymerization inhibition[1].
Icafolin-methyl (10 μM; throughout tubulin polymerization reaction) potently inhibits the in vitro polymerization of purified tobacco BY-2 tubulin, confirming its mode of action as a tubulin polymerization inhibitor[1].
