MCE Penicillin-Streptomycin (100×), Sterile is used to prevent bacterial contamination of cell culture due to their effective combined action against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, which contains 10,000 units/mL of penicillin and 10 mg/mL of streptomycin.

& Advantages

Penicillin interferes with the final stage of synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. Streptomycin inhibits elongation at transpeptidation step during protein synthesis and binds to 30S subunit, causing misreading.

MCE Penicillin-Streptomycin (100×) is a liquid formulation which contains 10,000 units/mL of penicillin and 10 mg/mL of streptomycin in 0.9% NaCl. The common working concentration is 100 units/mL for penicillin and 100 μg/mL for streptomycin.

Stockage

Stored at -20°C, and is stable for 1 year.
Protocole

Thaw product at room temperature, and add it in a 1:100 (v/v) ratio to cell culture medium.

  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

    Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
